Why create sustainable growth?
One answer is obvious.
If you’re not simultaneously growing sales and profits,
you’re likely decaying. Even if your sales
or profits have been good, you have to be careful that
complacency isn’t the first sign of decay. Eventually,
a lack of foresight will catch up with you. By consciously
creating sustainable growth in sales and profits, you are
forced to meticulously assess your current situation and
strategize changes to your business model.
A second reason for creating sustainable growth
is less obvious and tangible. You
create sustainable growth because you care – about
your shareholders, families, your employees, and future generations.
This is the legacy you leave, and it’s about creating
something important that lasts.
“If your competitors, and not you,
are thinking strategically about creating sustainable growth,
they are the ones who will eventually develop the products
your customers perceive as having the highest value. You
can’t afford to let this happen.”
Strategy, Innovation and Value-based
management are a system, not just a series of actions
Most companies treat
strategy, innovation and value-based management as a series
of actions they perform, sometimes annually, often
more infrequently. All organisms are systems, and your
corporation is a living, breathing organism. Therefore,
it follows that to have the healthiest corporate organism
possible, you need to treat it as an integrated system.
And, for every system, there is at least one structured
process that can be designed to maintain and grow that
system.
The process I have created
takes into consideration every aspect of the system that
comprises your strategy, business model, management structure,
internal processes, sales, and even the genetic code of
your company.
Do you know your genetic
code? You know that innovation at all levels of
your company is critical. Did you know that the genetic
code of your company determines how well and how often
everyone in the company taps into their creative powers? To_understand_your_genetic_code_is_to_get_to
the_heart_of_your_capacity_to_create_sustainable_growth. Your
genetic code is created automatically, first by the founders,
and then by the CEO and senior executives of your company.
“A winning strategy should be as
troublesome to your competitors as are the disruptive changes
in their market.”
The steps to creating sustainable growth
Any organism, whether it be a corporation or
a house plant, grows in a systematic way. It needs nutrients
and constant care, and it grows bit by bit, not all at once.
This is precisely why the system I created for helping companies
like yours grow in a sustainable way is modular and adaptive.
My experience running
multinational organizations has given me a unique perspective
on sustainable growth. I see how many corporate
initiatives fail because they try to do too much all at
once. No organism can survive under that kind of pressure. Sustainable_growth_must_be_fed_and
nurtured over time.
My system works as follows:
1. We begin, usually,
with the Strategic_Assessment: This
highly structured and very intense one-day session is conducted
with your CEO, COO, CFO, their direct staff, and a few
selected people with experience or knowledge about the
company and your market or industry (between 10-30 people).
The purpose of the Strategic Assessment is to provide you
with a very clear understanding of who you are and who
you need to become to create sustainable growth. You’ll
be amazed and surprised at the volume of practical ideas
and information you already have within your company. The
Strategic Assessment is perfect for a new CEO, or to fully
prepare for an upcoming board meeting. If you are not completely
satisfied with the results of the assessment, you don’t
pay. I believe that strongly in the process.
2. Second, we help you
develop your overall strategy, business model, implementation
plan, and leadership strategy. This is where we
come to terms with your genetic code, and determine the
products, target market, and activities that create the
most value, improving your company’s performance
and profitability while fully utilizing your existing assets.
I call this process the Strategic_Wealth_Creator_System™ (click
for more information on this process)
3. Third, we infuse
Value Innovation into your entire organization. Instead
of taking the conventional approach of simply finding ways
to differentiate your product, lower your cost, or create
products difficult for your competitors to imitate, I help
you to win on the basis of the Value of what you deliver.
Again, this is a strategic process, what I call the Strategic
Value Innovation System™. (Click for more information).
4. Fourth, you need
to strategically manage the value you deliver so that you
remain well ahead of your
competition. Value Management isn't accomplished through customer
surveys or complex CRM systems. Value Management is something
you continuously assess and strategically change. Originally
only available with The Value Innovation System, my Dynamic
Value Management System can now be used by any company wanting
a complete and strategic value management system.
5. Finally, you need
a clear sales strategy. Once you are creating and
delivering products and services that have a Value-based
edge over your competition, you need to have a matching Strategic
Sales System, what I refer to as the Strategic_Laser_Sales_System™.
I help you to strategically define and implement tools
based on proven concepts such as Marginal Value, Customer
Lifetime Value, The Buyer Utility Map, and the Unique Selling
Proposition (UPS).
